Chapter 1

The battlefield was a gruesome tableau of death and destruction. Blood and gore painted the ground red, while the scent of smoke and gunpowder hung heavy in the air. Karn, the crown prince, stood alone amidst the chaos, his once-pampered life now shattered by the cruel reality of betrayal. His eyes, once filled with innocence and trust, now blazed with fierce anger and deep pain. Every arrow piercing his body reminded him of the countless betrayals he had endured.
"I can't die... I can't give up..." Karn thought, his heart pounding with unwavering resolve. He grits his teeth as he surveys the battlefield. Bodies of his allies and enemies lay strewn across the blood-soaked ground, a testament to the savagery of the fight.
His hands trembled with anger and frustration as he glanced at the arrows embedded in his flesh. Every fiber of his being screamed for vengeance, fueling his resolve to survive and avenge the soldiers who had paid for their loyalty with their lives.
As Karn fought on, his mind raced with hatred for the cowardly Ministers, Generals, his cousins, and his treacherous uncle who had conspired with the enemy Empire. The once-loyal men, who had sworn to protect him, had turned against him, stabbing him in the back with their betrayal. But he refused to surrender. He couldn't let his enemies win, not while he still drew breath, even if it meant standing alone on the battlefield. With every swing of his sword, he pushed back the endless wave of enemies, fighting through the pain and fatigue.
Despite the agony, his eyes burned with a fiery intensity. His body was battered and bruised, but his spirit remained unbroken. He was not just a warrior, not just a prince—he was a man with a destiny, and defeat was not an option. Yet, despite his best efforts, enemy troops had already breached the kingdom's borders through multiple frontiers, thanks to his uncle's betrayal.
Karn had no strength left. His body, battered and broken, barely held on after his desperate struggle with the enemy’s crown prince. With one final clash, Dev's blade found its mark, stabbing deep into Karn's side. He staggered, blood soaking his armor as he collapsed to the ground. Dev strode past him, heading toward the last frontier, indifferent to the prince’s fading life.
Karn’s fading vision locked on the enemy banners fluttering mockingly in the wind—a cruel reminder of everything ripped from his grasp. His breath hitched as he watched the enemy’s general tear down his kingdom’s flag, replacing it with their own. The sight struck him like a dagger to the heart. The fire to fight back had flickered out as his country’s flag, once a proud emblem of his lineage, was torn down and replaced by a foreign banner, its alien colors mocking him in the cruel light of defeat. He had lost. His kingdom... his birthright... all of it, gone. The enemy had seized control of the final stronghold, the last bastion of his homeland. Each pulse of pain echoed the shattering of his spirit, leaving behind only an abyss of despair.
The thought of Dev’s cruelty twisted inside him like a blade. Karn knew he might never see his parents alive—not in this lifetime.
Karn lay motionless on the bloodied ground, his body battered and bruised from the fierce battle. The metallic scent of blood filled the air as the sound of receding footsteps and distant clamor told him that his enemies had begun their march toward the capital, believing him to be dead. Karn felt a wave of despair wash over him. The searing pain from his wounds was intense, but it paled in comparison to the sting of betrayal that pierced deeper than any blade. He clenched his fists, his mind seething with anger, cursing his naivety and weakness.
But just as the encroaching darkness threatened to consume him, a faint thought flickered in the depths of his mind: he was still alive, and he couldn’t let down the hopes of his subordinates and parents. As long as he drew breath, even with his body broken and his kingdom lost, there was still a chance.
